Afro-pop group Sauti Sol was founded in Nairobi, Kenya, in 2005 by singers Bien-Aimé Baraza, Willis Chimano, and Savara Mudigi. Guitarist Polycarp Otieno initially belonged to an a cappella group before changing his name to Sauti Sol.
